NDEPENDENCE AUSTRALIA HAS IMPROVED
AND
uplifted the health and lives of Australian
citizens for over fifty years. Initially founded in
1957
as the ‘Paraplegic Association of Victoria,’ the
non-profit organisation has long been on the forefront
of premier Australian disabled care. However, over
the years as the healthcare industry’s needs evolved
and matured, and instances of disability resulting in
paralysis decreased, the company rebranded its name
and vision. Now Independence Australia serves not
only the needs of Australia’s disabled –paraplegic and
quadriplegic – communities, but also extends their
services to support and nurture people from all ages
and from a wide range of disabilities.
Peter Turner has been a leader in the health and
human sectors for over 20 years. His expertise in
community healthcare administration garnered him
the prestigious title of Harvard Club Fellow, as well as
the position of surveyor for the Australian Council on
Healthcare Standards. He is committed to innovating
