some of those would need quite a
high level of care, but some would
need a relatively low level of care
such as help with showering or
medication.” Much of what Silver
Care does is to prevent social
isolation, something which can
lead to unhappiness and further
psychological problems if left
unchecked. “We are very strong
on preventing social isolation,”
says Douglas. “A lot of what our
staff provide is companionship
and friendship – it may not sound
as important as medical care but
it is actually a vital part of what
we do, and why we consider
our service to be ahead of the
competition.”
