United Church seniors. With an initial donation of
$25, the challenge to raise the funds got underway.
Members from the association visited 55 churches
throughout the Presbytery to promote the idea.
Then the four neighbouring Presbyteries - Hamilton,
Halton, Erie, and Waterloo - showed their support
with their own fundraising projects for the Home.
Funds were also bequeathed by Sir William Gage, a
publisher and philanthropist. It was established that
the Home would be named in memory of his wife,
