Ina, and his mother, who maiden names was Grafton.
The home-to-be now had a name - Niagara Ina Grafton
Gage Home. Finally in 1957, 4 1/2 acres of land were
purchased, and on September 1, 1959, Niagara Ina
Grafton Gage Home opened as the first United Church
Home for seniors in the Hamilton Conference.
Having steadily expanded since then, Ina Grafton is
now looking forward to opening a second village site
this fall. Together, the
two villages will boast
311
apartments and 47
bungalows, yet at Ina
Grafton they still have
a waiting list of around
1,000
people and a 2-10
year wait for each type of
accommodation.
